About the Church
Due to its construction, the church of Agios Georgios architecturally corresponds to the so-called cross-domed churches. This is how it was initially constructed. In a second phase of construction, following our ancestors’ relocation from Agios Georgios to Panagia, a pitched roof with tiles was added to the exterior arch of the church.
Along the north and south walls, five and five struts were added for the temple’s improved and more secure support. Between the second and third buttresses, from west to east, an arch was constructed to secure the southern entrance of the temple, while another arch was constructed between the fourth and fifth buttresses to support the spire atop the fifth buttress.
